The debate goes on at the playground how old does my child need to be to ride in a car safely without a carseat?

Motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death for young children, make sure your child is safe! Children under the age of 12 should always ride in the back seat of a vehicle, here are some other guidelines to drive by.

Infants (birth up to one year/up to 20-22 lbs) should be in an infant or rear facing car seat

Toddlers (20-40 lbs) should be in a convertible or forward-facing seat

Young Children (5-7 years/ 41lbs to 57″) should be in a belt positioning seat

Child (8-12 yrs/greater then 57″) seat belt in the back seat

Not only can a police officer stop you if a child under the age of 12 is not properly restrained, you could save your childs life by following Massachusetts state laws!
