Trying to Sell your Home? You STILL Need Homeowners Insurance, MA!
It’s no secret that the economy has taken a toll on real estate. For buyers, it is the best time to purchase a home! For sellers, it’s the worst time. But before you abandon the house and cancel your homeowners insurance, Massachusetts residents should make sure that they have done everything they possibly could. Did you ever consider that you are doing something wrong? Here is a short checklist for you before you give up hope…
#1: Make the house sparkle! It’s time to de-clutter and clean until the end of time. Your home’s appearance is the most important aspect and it WILL help you sell!
#2: The price is right. In a down economy, you may be forced to settle on a lower price than you would like. Trust us- everyone has to do it. If it is priced too high, it may not sell as quickly as you had hoped.
#3: Fix problems. Big or small, they need to be fixed. From a leaky roof to a leaky sink- fix it!
#4: Stay insured. Just because you are selling the house does not mean it should not be covered. It’s still important to have homeowners insurance! Massachusetts sellers should be prepared for the unexpected, especially when selling a house. What if there is a storm and it damages the roof? Your home will never sell with a damaged structure!
#5: Seek some help. It may be a good idea to find a reliable real estate agent, especially if you have never sold a house before. They will be able to answer questions from potential buyers and speak in real estate terms- it’s worth it!
Still not selling? It’s not your fault! The market is tough these days. If you are still living in your home, it’s important that you continue to take care of it and keep it protected with homeowners insurance. Massachusetts residents should at LEAST have a typical policy to cover the structure of the home, personal possessions, liability, replacement costs and even additional living expenses. We at the Morrill Group hope that your home sells soon- but if not, just continue to enjoy it!
